Our approach
How we work
Dallas Garage Review exists so you can choose an auto shop with more confidence. We visit shops in person, ask careful questions, and write about fit—without selling spots on the guide.
Our standards
- Every shop we recommend has been visited in person.
- We explain what a shop is good at, who it’s best for, and what to keep in mind before you go.
- If we say a shop specializes in something, we’ve seen work or evidence that supports it.
- Shops can’t pay to be included, ranked, or recommended.
- If something is sponsored, we say so clearly.
- We don’t publish harsh claims we can’t stand behind.
- A person decides what goes in the guide—not an algorithm or a paid listing.
What you’ll find in a shop guide
- Who they are and where they are
- What stands out about the shop
- Who they’re a good match for—and which jobs or vehicles fit best
- What we saw and heard on the visit
- Practical notes before you go (timing, expectations, limitations)
- When we visited and whether the guide is independent or sponsored
How we label independence
Independent guide
We visited this shop on our own and chose to include it. The shop did not pay for this coverage.
Sponsored story
If we ever publish a sponsored piece, it will be labeled up front. Sponsorship never buys a recommendation or a ranking in the guide.
What this is not
- Not a place to air grudges or dump one-star rants
- Not a “get free quotes” lead marketplace
- Not garage doors, parking, or yard sales—despite the word “garage”
- Not a paid “best of” list
If you own a shop
A visit is a conversation and a look at how you work—not a contest and not a promise of coverage. Visits are usually 45–60 minutes, scheduled ahead of time. We’re happy to take photos if you’re comfortable with that.
